The Government of Swaziland



The Health Ministry seeks to improve the health status of the people of Swaziland by providing preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative services that are of high quality, relevant, accessible, affordable, equitable and socially acceptable.

The country health care system consists of the formal and informal sector. The informal sector consists of traditional health practitioners and other unregulated service providers. The health service that is based on western medicine is considered to be formal and consists of public and private health services

Swaziland Nazarene Health Institution (SNHI)



RFM is a 350 bed regional referral and teaching hospital situated in Manzini, the hub of Swaziland. It occupies approximately 7,000 square meters in clinical buildings and 2,300 square meters in support buildings.

The health system is based on the concept of primary, health care, secondary health care and tertiary levels. At primary level there are community based healthcare workers, clinics, and outreach services. At secondary level, there health centres (which offer inpatient and outpatient). They also serve as referral points for primary levels. The Tertiary level comprises of hospitals, specialized hospitals and national referral hospitals.

NERCHA Mbabane, Swaziland



The National Emergency Response Council on HIV and AIDS (NERCHA) was created to coordinate and facilitate the National Multisectoral HIV/AIDS response and oversee the implementation of the national strategic plans and frameworks. NERCHA is not an implementing body, its goal is rather to organize and manage the nation’s war against the AIDS epidemic. Acting as the conduit for monies received from Government and the U.N. Global Fund to Fight HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, NERCHA works with organizational and community partners across all sectors to ensure that comprehensive services are delivered at the grass-roots level throughout the nation.


Doctors Without Borders



Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in France in 1971.

Today, MSF provides independent, impartial assistance in more than 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters. MSF provides independent, impartial assistance to those most in need.

PSI Mbabane, Swaziland



PSI has been implementing health programs in Swaziland since 2001. Programs include HIV/AIDS testing and counselling (HTC), condom social marketing (CSM), male circumcision for HIV prevention (MC) and maternal and child health (MCH). PSI/Swaziland’s work focuses on prevention with a commitment to capacity development and systems strengthening.

Good Shepard Hospital Siteki, Swaziland



Located near the eastern border of Swaziland in Siteki, Good Shepherd Hospital is a 201-bed rural hospital run by the Catholic Diocese in partnership with the Swazi Government. It is the sole hospital responsible for the health care of the Lubombo Region, providing healthcare for around 210,000 people, predominantly from the rural community. region. The hospital oversees the running of 16 rural clinics around Lubombo, with support from nurses and doctors on a regular basis.
